Without a doubt, one of my favourite new additions to the We ❤ Roleplay event has to be [Life in Mono]. I’ve been following this designer for some time now, and I have featured a few of her pieces before now. However, to say that Paris has come on leaps and bounds is probably an understatement. Her most recent dress, Queen Mary, is the perfect example of just how unique and creative this brand can be. So, I am not usually one to don the ol’ animal print. That being said, I really do love the circus theme of the upcoming event, Cirque de Seraphim. Especially the “classic” representations of the circus always seem to evoke these very nostalgic images for me, and elements of the bizarre. Many circuses were all out freak shows and its that aspect of the theme which I really wanted to draw on. Something quirky, something odd.

Amidst all of these big events, like We ❤ Roleplay! and Fantasy Gacha Carnival, I think it’s worth mentioning that Cirque de Seraphim shall open tomorrow (the 6th of November) at 12 SLT. The event is being held to benefit the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and boasts a very impressive list of creators which alone make it worth the visit!

One of those very talented creators is Dream Resistance, the name behind The Library. Dream has brought out three variations on this dress — Tamer, Ringleader and Crown — and they are really great pieces. I love the shape of the skirt and its perfect for its theme and setting.

I’m also featuring the latest hair from the new brand, Entwined.

 

This is a really exciting brand and one to keep a very close watch on. I’ve loved the last couple of styles that Blair has released and really look forward to more! Make sure to head to We ❤ RP and grab the Ivery hair for yourself.

The rest of this outfit is made up of separately very simple accessories, but things that I really love. The chest strap from Peqe is one of those very simple things that just make me happy. It’s the perfect accessory to pull an outfit together. I’m also very much in love with the Muse Head Loops from The Plastik at FGC. Again, they are just a very unique piece that really adds something extra to your outfit. Also, the bracers from [Haste] add that bit of bite — excuse the pun — to my Lion Tamer look and fit perfectly. And then finally, MUD SKIN have released a series of mesh eyes for We ❤ RP and they are very vibrant. Definitely don’t give this round a miss, there’s plenty of good finds to be had!

It’s that time of the month again. We ❤ Roleplay is back!

The event officially opens on the 4th of November and this month will certainly not disappoint. Almost all of the old favourites are back for November and you can expect to see a few new and exciting faces too! After taking a month off for Mystic Realms Faire it’s nice to see this ol’ favourite back again.

November is that favoured and dreaded month in which the changing seasons really take hold and we are treated to truly beautiful colours… as well as constant reminders of just how close we are to Christmas. Luckily, it’s the former which inspired today’s post.

Robert Frost is one of my favourite poets and really has been since I was forced to read through his poetry anthology in school. I’d like to think that I could appreciate some of his language then but I’d like even more to think that time has been the better teacher in that regard. Frost really fed off of his natural surroundings and I think that is the most tangible aspect of his work — and certainly what drew me to his poems. Of course, during this time of year there are several beautiful sims dotted around SL and Twilight’s Edge is one of them.

The autumnal colours here really inspired me to go for a rusty, earthy look. Les Encantades has brought out some amazing wings for this round of We ❤ RP and I was honestly surprised by their detail when I unpacked them and tried them on for size. That sort of fantastical look is not normally something I keep in my bag of tricks but these wings are really beautiful.

 

 

Combined with the lovely new Maiden Top by Pixicat, the whole look falls somewhere in between Medieval maiden and Valkyrie. Pixicat never really disappoints in her quality and her detail and this top is no exception. Even more so because it comes with a HUD and that’s the path straight to my heart. And just to tip it over the edge in favour of Valkyrie, the Empyrean Forge pendant. These pieces are always simple but very well made. The detail on Ymir’s Sigil is lovely and definitely worth the zoom! And lastly, another lovely piece of jewelry from .random.Matter. The LeLuna headchain is also very simply done but again, beautifully so. I have a big soft spot for simple things, in case you haven’t noticed. Especially for those of us who spend our free hours in medieval or Game of Thrones-themed sims, this is just the sort of thing.

Rule of thumb, have your Lindens ready come the 4th and happy shopping!

We ❤ Roleplay! shall be opening its doors in just a handful of hours and I’ve taken the opportunity to feature on of my favourite dresses from this round.

[Stitched] is a brand fast becoming known for its methodical attention to detail and quality. Adele Bumblefoot is a unique and talented creator who has carved a niche in the SL market by making exceptional male outfits and clothing for fantasy and medieval roleplayers. Clearly, she’s also pretty damn good at dresses, too.

Adele makes very clear nods to the sort of fashion and designs we see in the HBO series, Game of Thrones. The Allyria dress is very similar to a gown worn by Dornish characters in the series and aside from that it is quite simply a beautiful and alluring gown. Big thumbs up.

random.Matter also return with another fantastic accessory. This time, it’s a pair of arm cuffs, coming in a variety of colors and a HUD which allows you to customize the bands and metal detailing.

Although these bracers are simple enough it’s the detailing and the VERY tangible textures which had me in love with them. random.Matter is easily one of the best fantasy/medieval accessory creators out there.

And of course, the item which really inspired the Ancient Egyptian theme is the ram’s mask from Chimeric Fashions.

Again, another item with really great textures and details. The skull pops out from every picture I took and I was completely in love with the imagery and feeling which it added to the overall outfit.

The Fenir necklace from Bliensen + MaiTai provides a nice finishing touch and I rather like the shamanistic and almost rustic look this necklace has.

So, it’s been a while.

After a few weeks of having my arse handed to me by this new job, I’m back and ready to multi-task!

And what better time to sink my teeth back into blogging than the beginning of the month? The Arcade opened up today and both the Fantasy Room and We ❤ Roleplay are just around the corner. Add to that all of the regular, non-fantasy shopping events and you’re pixel wallet might well start to feel the pinch.

.random.Matter. have produced yet another simple, but stunning piece with the Deucalion Halo. It comes with a HUD for resizing which helps maintain the quality of the halo without stretching it out of shape. It also means that you can make it quite understated or keep it large and striking, as I have done. Without a doubt, a great accessory.

And also, I’ve re-discovered my love for the Chestlace and Qarth belt from Aisling. So much so that I haven’t changed my outfit for a couple of days… The belt pairs quite nicely with the Gilda dress from Dead Dollz and the cloak from Fateplay just completes this homage to everyone’s favourite Mother of Dragons.

Unbowed.

On the face of it there could be no two images which greater represent the antitheses of human nature; the dour, Victorian image of Jane Eyre contrasted with the fiery and fierce Dornishwoman. In truth, they are one in the same.

There can be no finer example of proto-feminist literature than Jane Eyre and the quote I’ve chosen for today’s post illustrates precisely the kind of independent and fiery spirit readers encounter in the title character herself. It’s pure and unadulterated in its passion and its convictions. Intentional or otherwise, this is always the kind of image which evokes itself in my mind when I encounter strong feminine roles or concepts. In a great many senses, Jane Eyre was the first of many who would come to follow in her fictional footsteps and for that, she remains one of my favourite literary motifs.

And what better premise to inform that famous Dornish idiom of, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.”

Without a doubt, it is the Dornish culture of George R. R. Martin’s The Game of Thrones which captured my creativity here.

I am overjoyed to have been chosen to blog for this round of We ❤ Roleplay!

There is /so/ much quality to choose from this round and I struggled to choose what I would begin to blog with. Ultimately, however, I had to start with the beautiful and exotic offering from The Muses.

I have to say that I haven’t bought anything from The Muses in quite some time, although their items have already been quality products they have never suited my roleplay characters. In truth, neither does this dress but it’s just too damn nice to pass over. The texturing on the wrap tunic top in particular is very nice and right up my street. Combined with the distressed shrug from {Zaara} and an old favourite from RYCA and the look is almost complete.
